Noteflight Review

After working with Noteflight this week, I could not believe this was a free program! Noteflight is a cloud based program with huge potential for in school use. In order to download a program onto a school computer, you have to have administrator log on to each computer to download the program. That is only after you get approval from the principal, superintendent and many other road block to get through. Being able to use a program that does not need to be downloaded is great alternative for school work. It did not take me long to get the hang of using Noteflight so I am confident that it will not take the students that long to master the program as well. This program can help foster a student's creativity by trying out different compositions with different instruments that they may not have access to in real life. Since the program is cloud based, the student's have the opportunity to continue their work on their compositions at home on their own computers, tablets or smart phones. This would also work nicely with an instrumental group. I can create accompaniment parts for each section of the orchestra and share it with my students so they can play along with accompaniment at home while practicing. The sound quality of the instruments are not the best sounding but considering that it is a free program, I think it is still worth using.
